Critical Care Medicine

The medical professionals at Chester Regional Medical Center provide 24-hour monitoring and acute care for critically ill patients in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Patients have access to specialists in a range of disciplines who utilize advanced equipment and technology to provide quality care.

The Intensive Care Unit is a (6)-bed unit with continuous hemodynamic monitoring capabilities and nursing staff competent in critical care delivery. Nurse to patient ratio can range from 1:2 to 1:3, depending on the patient acuity and demonstrated by nursing competence. Care is provided to patients from pediatric (greater than one year old and greater than 10kg weight) to geriatric. These patients may have single or multi-system failure requiring intensive care.

We understand that having a family member or loved one in the ICU can be difficult- that’s why our critical care team members are dedicated to keeping you informed and answering your questions.
