Cardiac Rehabilitation is a
medically supervised program of exercise and lifestyle changes to help patients
maintain a healthy heart. Exercise is a
large component of the program, but patients also have the opportunity to learn
how to control heart disease and risk factors through nutrition and medication
classes.
Regular exercise improves heart
health, lowers cholesterol and blood pressure, increases physical strength, and
helps control weight. Throughout the exercise session patients are continuously
monitored by cardiac telemetry and supervised by nursing staff that are trained
in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. To
enroll in the Cardiac Rehabilitation program patients may contact their
physician for a referral.
